About the Artist

I am an artist who specializes in collage and assemblage, working out of my studio in Los Angeles.
My fascination with multimedia art began long before I even knew the term existed.
I was a painting major at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and California College of the Arts (CCA). I consistently found myself gluing an array of diverse materials to my canvases. Some of my favorite elements include ripped posters, gold and silver leaf fabric, buttons, rust, thread, resins, old canvas, rusted wire and screen, gems, beads, and, notably, bottle caps. These materials have become integral components in most of my works.
As a creative artist, my interests have led me to bookmaking, banners, sculpture, encaustic experimenting, painting, fabric dyeing, eco-printing, jewelry making, cigar box constructions.
I've been fortunate to spend many summers with my young daughter in Panicale, Italy, a town steeped in medieval history and wonderful people, nestled in the western region of Umbria. This ancient fortress overlooks aging olive groves and a picturesque countryside.
There, I became enthralled with layers of old Italian posts on walls and under railroad trestles. My friend and I would sneak out in the middle of the night and return with bundles of art materials. Subsequently, tearing apart the layers of billboards and repurposing them. Over time, countless hours dedicated in my garage studio, with the help of friends and locals who had joined in to contribute poster pieces. When it was time to return to the United States, my suitcases brimmed with paper scraps, all of which continue to inspire and shape my collage work to this day.
In the late 1970s, I moved to Los Angeles and began my career in the film industry. I started as a costume designer and later transitioned to production design, where I spent 35 years designing movie sets.
I aim to juxtapose unique elements, forging thought-provoking perspectives spanning humor, playfulness, and occasional darkness. My passion lies in the fusion of diverse materials. Time's profound influence on civilization captivates me.
I enjoy beautifying, glorifying, and repurposing the mundane.
